Synopsis of A Fantastic Woman
Marina (played by Daniela Vega) and Orlando (played by Francisco Reyes) are truly in love and planning for the future. Malena is a young restaurant waiter and aspiring singer. Orlando was 20 years older than her and owned a textile company. On the night of celebrating Marina's birthday, Orlando felt unwell. When he arrived at the hospital and received emergency treatment, he was pronounced dead. The sudden bad news made Malena doubted by doctors and Orlando's family, making it impossible for her to mourn Orlando as a partner. As a result, Marina was investigated by a female detective as to whether she was related to Orlando's death. Orlando's ex-wife prohibited her from attending the funeral, and Orlando's son even threatened Marina to move out of the apartment where she lived with Orlando. Marlena, a trans woman, is aberration and distortion to Orlando's family. Malena decided to use her lifelong struggle to fight for the right to say goodbye to her lover, just to be in line with who she is now - a complex, powerful, straightforward, and dreamy woman.
