Synopsis of The Tree of Wooden Clogs

This film describes the life of several farm families in the poor and impoverished rural areas of northern Italy at the end of the 19th century. It is composed of many short stories. One of the passages describes the son of a sharecropper going to school. For people in this place at that time, studying was not easy. Parents did not understand the meaning and benefits of education and were unwilling to send their children to study. Many priests This was done after the parents’ advice. These families also need to be extra frugal in life to provide for these children to study. When a sharecropper's child returned from studying, his shoes were broken, so his father cut down a tree and made a pair of wooden shoes overnight. When the landowner found out about this, he kicked out the tenant farmers. The film tells the story of three farmers working for the same employer, with particular emphasis on the relationship between each family member and their neighbors. Italian director Emmano Omi used his keen ability to arrange some non-professional actors to star in this film, which lasted 12 months. This film is almost a documentary in terms of image style.
