Synopsis of Love in a Puff

A smoking cessation order turned the narrow back alley into a new social area, and countless men and women who smoked had to hide there to smoke. No matter where they are or what they are doing, they are just smokers there. All they do is smoke and make jokes together. Chi Ming (Shawn Yue) from an advertising company met Chun Jiao (Miriam Yeung) who worked at a cosmetics counter there. Zhi Ming's misfortune and his act of lighting a cigarette for Chun Jiao made Chun Jiao slightly fond of this gentle man. In the next few days and nights, the two exchanged text messages and met on the street corner to smoke from time to time. Feelings are transmitted through the thumb, love grows in the smoke, and eventually an ambiguous text message leads to Chunjiao breaking up with her boyfriend Jiahao (played by Huang Debin). Just when Chunjiao was ready to devote herself to her love affair with Zhiming, Zhiming's attitude became ambiguous. The smoke continued to linger in the street corners and back alleys, but it could not bridge the gap between the two. With the announcement of the decision to increase tobacco taxes, smokers began to search for and hoard cigarettes. During the search for cigarettes, Zhiming and Chunjiao met again at the convenience store where they first met. That night, the two met to find cigarettes together... The film was shot over 15 days over five weeks...
