Synopsis of Suffragette

The film tells the story of British women's unremitting struggle for the right to vote more than a century ago. Streep plays Emmeline Pankhurst, a famous advocate for women's suffrage. She and several allies initiated the establishment of the "Women's Parliament". When Congress was in session, they also held meetings to act against it. Due to their radical struggle measures, Pankhurst and her allies were imprisoned many times, which caused great repercussions in society. (time)
