Synopsis of The Borrower Arrietty

Although suffering from heart disease, the parents of young Xiang (voiced by Ryunosuke Kamiki) still neglect him. In order to prepare for the upcoming surgery, Xiang came to his aunt (voiced by Takeshita Keiko) in a remote countryside to rest. My aunt's house is located in a quiet jungle. It is a European-style villa with a history of hundreds of years. In addition to the aunt and maid Achun (voiced by Shirin Shu), there is also a peculiar family of three, the "borrower family" - the villain Arrietty (voiced by Mirai Shida) and her father (voiced by Miura). They live under the floor of the villa, only a few centimeters high, and live a life that is not noticed by humans. When he came across the daily necessities he needed, he would sneak into the kitchen in the dead of night and borrow them. Xiang undoubtedly caught a glimpse of Arrietty. He wanted to get close to these legendary villains, but he unknowingly disturbed their lives... This film is adapted from the original work "The Borrower" by British writer Mary Norton, and won the 2011 Japan Film Academy Award for Best Animated Film.
