Synopsis of 24 Weeks

The movie tells the story of Astrid Lorenz (Julia Jentsch), a successful cabaret actress. When she was pregnant with her second baby, she was diagnosed with Down syndrome and severe congenital heart disease. German law stipulates that in this case, parents have the right to choose abortion until the birth. Since the child has reached 24 weeks and may be able to survive outside the mother's womb, if an abortion is performed at this time, the child needs to be injected to stop the heartbeat first. Astrid and her husband face a test of morality and humanity. How will she choose?
