Lost in Manila Metro Manila

Lost in Manila Metro Manila

Synopsis of Lost in Manila

Married couple Mai and Oscar found themselves unable to feed themselves and their two young daughters by growing rice in the northern Philippines. In search of a better life, they headed to the capital, Manila, where what little money they had left was quickly spent. Mai was forced to work in a bar, and Oscar found a job driving and guarding an armored truck. Unfortunately, Oscar is soon thrust into a conspiracy to commit a robbery. This is a low-budget film shot with a digital camera and produced by a small crew. On "Lost in Manila," director Sean Ellis, who doesn't speak Filipino, had to deal with everything, including directing the actors to speak Filipino. The actors' sincere performances and Ellis's emphasis on non-verbal direction make the film a success. The film was filmed in the Philippines, giving it a very local feel.
