Synopsis of Visible: Out on Television

Created by filmmakers Ryan White and Jessica Hargrave, the five-episode series examines "the importance of television as a vital medium in shaping the American conscience and how the LGBTQ movement has shaped television." The hour-long episodes will explore themes including homophobia and fear, the evolution of LGBTQ characters and their popularity in the television industry. It is said to combine archival footage with "key players in the movement," narrated by Janet Mock, Margaret Cho, Asia Kate Dillon, Neil Patrick Harris, Lena Waithe and others. Also included will be interviews with Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Anderson Cooper and others. "Visible: Out on Television" is scheduled to premiere on AppleTV+ on February 14, 2020.
