Synopsis of Hex

The first of Gui Zhihong's "evil" trilogy. In the early years of the Republic of China, the Chen family in Xiguan, Guangzhou was in decline, leaving only Chen Xiuying (Tian Ni), her husband Yang Zhenyu (Wang Rong) and the maid who served Xiuying. Xiuying was frail and sick, and would keep coughing when she moved around. Zhenyu was a gambler and alcoholic. Whenever something went wrong outside, he would punch and kick Xiuying and the maid. The maid couldn't bear it anymore, so Xiuying returned. Home. On this day, Xiuying welcomed Liang Qihua (Chen Sijia), who claimed to be the daughter of a servant of the Chen family. Seeing that Xiuying is weak, Qihua expresses her willingness to stay and take care of her. Xiuying explains Zhenyu's bad habits, but Qihua still has no hesitation, Xiuying is grateful. Zhenyu did not give any special treatment to this new maid, but Qihua was not a "kind person" either. One day she saw the opportunity and teamed up with Xiuying to kill Zhenyu. Xiuying fell into panic from then on, and was eventually scared to death by Zhenyu's "ghost". What she didn’t know until her death was that Qihua was Zhenyu’s lover, and Zhenyu and Qihua didn’t expect that Xiuying’s “haunting spirit” was still around.
