Synopsis of Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes
The baby John Clayton's parents died and he was taken away by the female ape Kara. Under Kara's care, the baby grew up and regarded Kara as his biological mother, and was named Taishan. Taishan means "white skin" in the ape language. Tarzan became the King of the Apes. Humans attack the forest, Kara is killed, and Tarzan accidentally saves the Belgian captain Philippe Danault. The captain found out from the necklace around Tarzan's neck that he was the legal heir to the Earl of Gresto's estate, and took him back to England. Tarzan gradually learned how a gentleman should behave and became engaged to Miss Jane Porter. Tarzan was shocked by the animal specimens in the museum. He witnessed his ape "father" being shot and killed, and he did not want to live in a civilized society anymore. Finally, Tarzan bids farewell to his beloved fiancée and good friend Captain Danault, and returns to his homeland of the African jungle.
