Synopsis of Breakfast on Pluto
The film is adapted from the best-selling novel "Breakfast On Pluto" by the British Booker Prize-nominated writer Patrick McCabe. It tells the story of the transvestite boy Patrick Brydon (played by Cillian Murphy) in the 1970s when he was criticized by public opinion. He never changed himself and kept looking for his mother. Patrick was abandoned by his parents when he was a baby and then adopted by a priest (Liam Neeson). But since he was a child, he liked to wear girls' clothes and imagined that he was a girl. He didn't know who his mother was, let alone where she was now. When Patrick grew up, he even wore a blond wig and colorful female makeup. He refused anyone to change himself, but who knew how this harsh environment could tolerate such an "extraordinary person". Along the way, Patrick meets all kinds of strangers and searches for his mother. Actor Cillian Murphy was nominated for the 63rd Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in the Comedy/Musical category for his outstanding performance in "Breakfast on Pluto."
