Synopsis of Stray Dogs

A brother and sister living in the Afghan capital of Kabul rescued a puppy said to have been brought by foreigners, while other children were planning to harm the dog. They took the dogs to the city jail. Prison guards told them that visiting hours had passed, but the children told the guards that they were not visitors but inmates at the prison. The guard asked them why they were outside the prison if they were prisoners. "We are prisoners for the night," they replied. The guards seemed to understand. So, after a physical examination, the children were taken to the cells. At this point, everything became clear. It turned out that the children's mother was an inmate at this prison and her children were homeless at night, so the children were allowed to come and stay with their mother at night. The next day, the warden of the prison discovered what had happened. He refused to let the children into the prison, and the children still begged in vain, hoping to be allowed to enter the prison for the night. Children were taught that prisons were not orphanages or shelters for the homeless, but rather prisons for those who had committed crimes. So, in order to have a place to live, the two children were ready to try committing crimes.
