Synopsis of After Hours
Computer clerk Paul (played by Griffin Dunne) goes to a restaurant for a late-night snack after get off work. The "Tropic of Cancer" in his hand allows the mysterious woman Marcy (Rosanna Arquette) sitting next to him to strike up a conversation. Marcy left her phone number and introduced him to Qiqi, a female sculptor who lives in the same house with her. In order to pursue an affair, Paul called Marcy's phone at midnight. Marcy's home was messy because of the paper sculptures, and she was eager to talk endlessly, making it impossible for Paul to succeed. Paul could not stand the man who did not show his face. Franklin" and Marcy's neurotic performance, when they were eager to return home, they got involved in a series of troubles, entangled with the bar owner, barmaid, punk youths, two thieves, a young woman driving an ice cream truck, etc. It was unclear, it seemed that everyone was preventing Paul from going home this night. The film won the Best Director Award at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival and the 1986 Independent Spirit Award for Best Director.
