Synopsis of Dangerous Liaisons

This film is adapted from the famous French debauchery novel and has been adapted into different versions of movies, TV series, and stage plays many times. In the 1930s, under the gunfire of the Japanese army, Shanghai's upper class society was still lost in the carnival of drunkenness and wealth every day. Xie Yifan (played by Zhang Dongjian) is a famous playboy in the romantic court, and Mo Jieyu (played by Cecilia Cheung) is a charming widow of a wealthy family who is hidden in the city. The two have an inseparable and intimate relationship. Don't encourage Xie to seduce the young girl Beibei who is about to be married by the wealthy businessman who abandoned him. Xie, however, felt that it was not challenging enough and became interested in Du Fenyu (played by Zhang Ziyi), an innocent widow from a well-born family. Immediately Xie and Mo started a gambling game with Du as bait. The content of the bet was that Xie would get Du's body, and the prize was Mo's body that Xie dreamed of. Regarding Xie's pursuit, Du resisted at first and then got deeper and deeper into it, and Xie also found that he fell in love with his prey, all of which made Mo angry.
