Synopsis of Taipei Story

Aaron (played by Hou Hsiao-hsien), a cloth store owner who was a national player in the youth baseball team, and Ah Zhen are childhood sweethearts. Ah Zhen (played by Tsai Chin) is a senior assistant employee of a company. She always hopes to get married and immigrate to the United States as soon as possible, change her current living situation, and yearn for a better future. Aaron is willing to help others, like his Little League friend Aqin (played by Wu Nianzhen) who drives a taxi, etc. He has a strong sense of nostalgia and often goes to the sidelines of baseball diamonds to watch. Faced with the drastic changes in the society around them, Alon and Zhen interacted with different groups of people. They inevitably drifted away from each other, and cracks appeared in their relationship. Later, Aaron was stabbed by a young man who admired Azhen and sat alone on the roadside waiting. As he gradually fell into coma, he seemed to re-see the memory of participating in the Little League game.
