Synopsis of The Savages

Wendy (Laura Linney) is a 38-year-old playwright living in New York. Her job can only make ends meet, she has no marriage, and maintains an improper relationship with a married man. She has a brother Jon (Philip Seymour Hoffman) who lives a very cool life. He works as a university professor in Buffalo. He seems to be very proud, but he also has his own troubles - his girlfriend is about to leave him and return. In Eastern Europe, he was very sad, but did not stay because he did not want to get married. One day, they learned that their father (Philip Bosco) had Alzheimer's disease. The brother and sister, who had not been in contact for a long time, reunited and placed his father in a nursing home to fulfill their responsibilities of taking care of him on a rotating basis. In the process of constant troubles and quarrels, the two brothers and sisters recalled the past of their father's autocratic and irresponsible childhood. Compared with their current loneliness, they rethink the meaning of "family", and the death of their father is coming... …
