Synopsis of Pointing fingers at soldiers

A group of children on the banks of the Doro River welcomed their new member. The shy boy has to steal a doll to gain acceptance. He falls in love with the only girl in the gang, but she is also the crush of the "boss". Oliveira's first work as a director was influenced by Walter Trutmann's "Berlin: Symphony of a City" and was shot with a photography camera purchased by his father. The film was discovered by Assistant Director Barros and screened, becoming a representative work of Portuguese cinema during this period. "Point and click" is a children's game played on the streets of Italy. Oliveira almost entirely used non-professional child actors to interpret a story about "guilt and fear, desire and deviance", creating a quasi-neorealist practice ahead of its time. Considered the most outstanding Portuguese film of the 1940s.
