Synopsis of Rome, Open City

In 1944, Rome, the streets were scarred by Nazi occupation. The German army recklessly hunts down the guerrillas who defend their homeland. The leader of the Italian underground resistance organization and engineer George Manfetti (Marcello Pagliero) is hunted by the German army. In the crisis, Manfetti fled to the home of her friend Francisco. With the help of Francisco's fiancée Pina (played by Anna Magnani), Manfetti met Father Don Pietro (Aldo... Belize (Aldo Fabrizi), and asked the priest to hand over a huge sum of money to the guerrillas. Francisco was arrested to cover Manfetti, and Bina was shot to death. However, Manfetti, who was desperate, was reported by his girlfriend, and Manfetti and the priest were arrested and imprisoned. The Nazis deliberately tortured Manfetti in front of the priest, and the two eventually died heroically under the enemy's torture and bullets. This film is adapted from the original work by Sergio Amidi.
