Synopsis of Chess spirit

Sixth-grade elementary school student Shindo Hikaru (voiced by Tomoko Kawakami) accidentally dug out an old chessboard from his grandfather's house. The moment the chessboard is touched, the soul of the Heian era chess player Fujiwara Sawei (voiced by Chiba Kazuo) who lives on it is released. Zuo Wei, who is possessed by Xiaoguang, regards chess as his destiny. Xiaoguang starts to play Go under his gentle care and guidance, and comes into contact with a group of powerful chess players, including many of his peers. Xiaoguang became interested in Go and showed his talent, while Zuo Wei became Xiaoguang's secret teacher... "Soul of Chess" is adapted from the work of the same name by Yumi Hota. The comic was written by Takeru Obata and supervised by Yukari Umezawa, a female chess player from the Nippon Chess Academy. After it was released and caused a sensation that year, it triggered a craze for learning Go. The protagonist Hikaru Shindo was transformed by Sawei's possession, telling the story of his chess skills and spiritual growth, and also popularizing the knowledge of Go, which is of far-reaching significance.
