Synopsis of The Long Call

Silverprint Pictures is producing four episodes of new drama The Long Call for ITV. This play is adapted from the novel of the same name by Ann Cleeves, the original author of "Inspector Vera". The novel is the first in her new series "Two Rivers" in twenty years. The series is set in Devon, southwest England. Detective Inspector Matthew Venn returns to north Devon and sets up a new home with his husband Jonathan in a small community. Twenty years ago, Matthew, who was ostracized by his family, left the evangelical community where he grew up, which was a strict community. Now Matthew is back, not only standing outside the church where his father's funeral was held, mourning from a distance, but also to take charge of his first major murder. A body has been found on a beach near Matthew's new home, where a man with an albatross tattoo on his neck was stabbed to death.
