Synopsis of Around the World in 80 Days Season 1
David Tennant (Doctor Who, Good Omens) is set to star in a new series of Around the World in Eighty Days. Once again adapting Jules Verne's famous novel, Tennant plays the wise and kind-hearted British gentleman Phileas Fogg. Because of a bold bet, Fokker embarked on a journey around the world in 80 days, including scenes in China. The novel has been adapted into film and television many times, such as the 2004 film starring Jackie Chan, Steve Coogan and others. This new drama also stars the young French actor Ibrahim Koma as Fokker's servant "Know-It-All", and Leonie Benich ("The Crown", "The Universe", "Babylon Berlin") as the reporter Abigail Fix who reports the story. Ashley Pharoah ("Life on Mars") and others serve as screenwriters, Steve Barron ("The Durrells") is the main director, and SlimFilm+Television and Federation are production companies. Filming will begin in February next year and will be filmed in South Africa and Romania. It is expected to be released by the end of next year.
