Synopsis of The Last Five Years

The film is adapted from Jason Robert Brown's 2002 musical of the same name. The male protagonist Jamie (played by "Famous" actor Jeremy Jordan) meets the female protagonist Casey (played by Kendrick). At that time, he was a fledgling writer and she was an actress with a bright future. People fall in love, get married, and spend a happy time. Then Jamie's first book became a big success, and his writing career prospered from then on; but Kathy has been performing silently in small theaters in Ohio, never waiting for the opportunity to become famous. Their once-happy marriage was on the rocks because of this, and they fell in love for five years before ending in tragedy.
