Synopsis of East Is East

The story takes place in the 1970s. George Khan is a Pakistani living in Salford, England, and runs a private shop. George Kehan's wife Ella is a true Englishman, born in Lancashire, northwest England. They had seven children in total. George wanted the family to abide by traditional Pakistani values and morals, but unfortunately the seven children had their own ideas. For George, life is more like a long compromise. The naughty daughter Mina likes to play football with the boys rather than dressing up; the hippie son Shalin is ostensibly studying engineering, but is actually in art school; the erotic and romantic Ta Rick has become a well-known local lothario; Sajid is still a young boy. In order not to become a victim of another arranged marriage tragedy in the family, Nagel simply escaped and ran to Eccles Town to start a hat business to support himself; George, in order to bring his other two sons into submission, forced them to Marry the daughter of Mr. Xia, a respectable and wealthy butcher...
