Synopsis of roadside picnic

In the foggy Kaili County clinic in the mysterious and humid subtropical countryside of southeastern Guizhou, two doctors were preoccupied and lived like ghosts. In order to fulfill his mother's last wish, Chen Sheng set foot on the train to find the child abandoned by his younger brother; while another lonely old woman asked him to bring a photo, a shirt, and a box of tapes to an old lover who was seriously ill. On the way to Zhenyuan County, Chen Sheng (played by Chen Yongzhong) came to a place called Dangmai, where time is not linear and people's lives complement and dissolve each other. He seemed to experience the past, present and future, and rethink his life. Finally, Chen Sheng arrived in Zhenyuan and just used a telescope to watch the child from a distance. He gave the old woman's token to her old lover's son. A man steps on the train again. I can’t tell whether this world is my memory or whether I am a fantasy of this world...
