The Caine Mutiny

The Caine Mutiny

Synopsis of The Caine Mutiny

The film tells the story of an army captain's court-martial. Strictly speaking, this is a true mutiny. According to military regulations, "under special circumstances, the captain can be relieved of command without the approval of his superiors." When the USS En was in danger of sinking due to Captain Chigurh's (Humphrey Bogart) wrong command, his loyal deputy Mark immediately took over the ship. As a result, Mark and his colleagues who supported him were severely punished. During the military trial, the only way his lawyers could save him was to prove that Officer Chigurh was insane and unable to control the ship well. The courtroom debate scene in this movie is the climax of the whole film. The calm and wise lawyer reverses the situation at the critical moment, allowing Chigurh, who has always shrewdly concealed his character flaws, to expose his weaknesses in court, and Mark gets an unlimited victory. Guilty verdict... The film seems to have a happy ending here, but in fact there is something else going on, which leads to deeper thinking. This film is adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. The courtroom scene is the climax of the film, and the key typhoon attack on the ship is also very shocking and gripping. Hollywood legendary tough guy Humphrey Bogart once played the main character in "The Spies of North Africa"...
