Synopsis of Detroit

Kathryn Bigelow, the female director of "The Hurt Locker" and "Zero Dark Thirty", is about to collaborate again with "The Hurt Locker" screenwriter Mark Boal to make a film about 1967 Film about the black riots in Detroit. The film currently does not have a title, but it plans to start casting in March and start shooting this summer. The 1967 Detroit black riots were one of the most destructive racial riots in American history. They were caused by the police entering a tavern in the black area to arrest black people in the early morning of July 23. This law enforcement action aroused dissatisfaction among black people. After hearing the news, they threw stones and bricks at the police. Later, police reinforcements arrived and forcibly dispersed the black people, but this had the opposite effect. More and more black people gathered, eventually triggering large-scale riots that spread throughout the city. The riot lasted for five days, killing 43 people, destroying many buildings and injuring many people. Riots also spread to Illinois, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Maryland. The film is scheduled to be released in 2017, the 50th anniversary of the riots.
