Synopsis of Christ Stopped at Eboli

Based on the autobiography of writer and artist Carlo Levy. It tells that he was exiled for opposing fascism in the 1930s and came to an extremely backward mountain village in southern Italy. He witnessed the poverty and despair of the villagers, which strengthened his beliefs. The film is very slow and low-key, but full of contemplation and connotation, and is considered Rossi's best work. The compressed version circulating on the market is about two hours.
