Synopsis of foodie

Charles Duchemin (Louis de Funès), editor-in-chief of food magazines, has a gifted sense of smell and taste. Once the food is smelled through his nose and tasted through his mouth, he can tell whether it is as delicious as the legend says. In order to let readers taste truly delicious food, he often disguises himself and sneaks into major restaurants and hotels to taste the food. If the food is good, he will highly recommend it in the magazine, and if the food is bad, he will scold it. Therefore, he becomes the devil in the eyes of restaurant and hotel owners, but also the God in the readers' hearts. Because of his old age, Charles Duchemin wanted his son Gérard Duchemin (Coluche), who also had superhuman talents in smell and taste, to inherit his father's business.
