Synopsis of Certified Copy
British writer James Miller (William Shimell) came to the Italian city of Tuscany to give a lecture on his new work "Legal Copy". He discusses the book's point of view with readers: there is no need to discuss the authenticity of artistic creation, because the copy itself is the original work, and the original work is also copied from other works. A French woman (Juliette Binoche) who sells antiques brought her 11-year-old son to the discussion and wanted to get an autograph for the book she just bought. She left early because her son was hungry, and left a phone number before leaving. Miller and the woman met again in her antique store, and they drove to the countryside to see something. She drove Miller aimlessly around in her car, talking about the themes of the book, visiting museums, and talking about her rebellious son, and the two bickered along the way. In a cafe, the female boss thought Miller was the woman's husband, so she started discussing marriage with her around Miller. So they made mistakes, and Miller began to play the woman's husband. The two went on dates and went to hotels. But the copy is just a copy, not the original. Miller ended his copying identity and left alone...
