Synopsis of Same Same But Different

This film tells the story of Ben (played by David Kross), a newly graduated German youth who comes to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to travel. Ben quickly fell in love with Cambodia’s exotic features and feasting. What makes Ben even more obsessed is that he met the beautiful Cambodian girl Sreykeo (Apinya Sakuljaroensuk) in a nightclub. Sreykeo, like all prostitutes, makes money by soliciting clients, but this does not affect Ben's deep love for her at all. But fate still played a trick on Sreykeo, and she was diagnosed with AIDS. Will this unexpected love end in tragedy, or will the two of them stay together forever? This film is adapted from real events and is a German romance film shot in Cambodia. The film will premiere at the Piazza Grandelineup at the 62nd Locarno International Film Festival.
