Synopsis of The Raven

In a rural village in central France, Dr. Remy Gilman actually became the victim of a "crow". It turned out that someone wrote an anonymous letter signed "Crow", falsely accusing him of adultery and illegal abortion. Soon, this false accusation letter spread widely in the village, causing the whole village to panic. Every villager was suspected of being the author of this mysterious anonymous letter. In the process of investigating the matter, Dr. Remy gradually discovered the despicableness and pettyness of his compatriots. This film is quite wonderfully shot. Not only does the plot have twists and turns and the atmosphere is tight, it not only reflects the psychological state of "everyone is in danger" during the war, but it also portrays the characters in the film with great depth. Hollywood remade it into an American version in 1951 by the famous director Otto Preminger, called "The Thirteenth Letter" (The Thirteenth Letter). The background of the story was changed to a small Canadian city, but the overall results were inferior to the French version. Director Henri-Georges Clouzot's 1943 "Le Corbeau" (LeCorbeau) is his most successful work and established its tense and suspenseful style...
