Synopsis of The 'High Sign'

A speeding train roared past and dropped a somewhat down and out young man (Buster Keaton) while passing through a certain town. He had no job and was helpless, but a job advertisement published in a large newspaper attracted the young man's attention. The notice comes from a shooting range that requires its employees to have good shooting skills. The young man improvised and stole the police's gun to contact him, but his skills were really poor. Even so, he still went ahead and applied for the job. The owner of the shooting range is a man with a ferocious appearance and a burly figure. His true identity is the boss of a gang of robbers. He is plotting with his accomplices to kidnap a wealthy businessman. The young man was allowed to become a member of the gang by virtue of his cleverness, and by some strange combination of circumstances, he was appreciated by a wealthy businessman and became his personal bodyguard...
