Synopsis of The Bull
Adapted from a true crime story that occurred in the suburbs of Moscow in 1997. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the new Russian economy struggled to develop and criminal gangs proliferated. The young leader of a certain gang, Anton Kobiev, nicknamed "The Bull", will do anything to support his family. He was arrested by police after a gang conflict. A Moscow mafia boss rescues him from the police, and in return he must do a dangerous thing for the boss. Boris Akopov directed a feature film for the first time. It tells the story of a generation and has a relaxed dramatic rhythm. It was shortlisted for the main competition of the 54th Czech Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and won the Russian Kinotavr Film Festival. Grand Prize and Best Photography Award.
