Synopsis of Hans Christian Andersen

A nice children's film starring Danny Kaye as the beloved Danish author. The film details how Andersen became a budding writer in an imaginative way that is accepted by everyone. The film begins with Kai being asked to leave the town. He is a shoemaker in the town and likes to tell stories to children, so that the children are fascinated by the stories and do not want to go to school. Producer Goldwyn has always been fascinated by "Andersen". For fifteen years he repeatedly announced his intention to make the film, only to be turned down time and time again (Jali Cooper was cast as the male lead). Goldwyn paid a high price to find someone to write sixteen scripts, picked one he liked, and hired Kay to perform for a salary of US$175,000. Filming started after Kai agreed. As for the role of the ballerina, Goldwyn wanted to cast the British dancer Moira Shearer because she had just finished filming Mike Powell's "The Ballerina" (1948). This story is also adapted from Andersen's fairy tale. Shearer agreed to star, but she had to withdraw due to pregnancy and was replaced by French dancer Renée Jeanmeier. The production cost of the film was US$4 million, and a 17-minute ballet in the film cost US$400,000...
