54 Hours Gladbeck

Synopsis of 54 Hours

On August 16, 1988, Hans-Jürgen Hosner and Dieter Degowski robbed the Deutsche Bank in Gladbeck, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and took two bank employees hostage. After the incident, the police led by Friedrich Meiser launched a rapid operation in the hope of catching the criminal as soon as possible. Faced with police siege, they began a two-day escape. During this period, Hosner's girlfriend Marion Lüblich hijacked a bus carrying thirty passengers in Bremen to help the two escape the police pursuit. Since the robbers held many hostages, the German police were unable to carry out effective operations against the criminals in order to protect the hostages. Degowski then shot and killed the fourteen-year-old Emmanuel on the way to escape. The situation became increasingly serious. The death of the hostage made police action imminent... The film is adapted from real events and restores the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. The most dramatic robbery ever. (Xiao Yifu subtitle group)
