Synopsis of White Sun

After years of civil war, a Nepali Communist Party member finally packed his bags and returned to his remote hometown with an orphan he met on the road so that he could attend the funeral for his recently deceased father. His brother joined the opposing camp in the civil war, and the incompatible two had to agree on a temporary truce; his wife gave birth to another man's daughter, but the little girl thought he was her biological father. During the dangerous journey of carrying the body down the mountain for cremation, the long-suffering conflict finally broke out. The director cleverly integrated the ten-year-old Nepalese civil war into a funeral. In this remote mountain village, the superiority of men and the inferiority of women and the caste system are still deeply entrenched; although the male protagonist from the outside world has fought for modern universal values, he has to fight for the replacement. The deceased father completed the funeral, but had to succumb to the village elders who believed in ancient customs. Modernity and tradition, religion and secularity, even family and affection, war and peace, will eventually be healed under this Nepalese flag flying in the daytime.
