Synopsis of Looking for Eric

Postman Eric Bishop (played by Steve Evets) is a die-hard fan of Manchester United star Cantona. Unable to face his ex-wife Lily (Stephanie Bishop), whom he had abandoned for 30 years, Eric drove retrograde and had a car accident in a daze. After being discharged from the hospital, it was discovered that the two stepsons were disobedient. The eldest son Ryan (Gerard Kearns) was also entangled with the local gang and was forced to hide the murder for others. Frustrated and depressed, Eric contemplated suicide and smoked marijuana to numb himself. Under the influence of tobacco and alcohol, Eric discovered that his idol Cantona had appeared beside him, giving him advice, encouraging him to get back in touch with Lily, strictly disciplining his son, and even training him in physical exercises. When Eric was at a loss as to how to deal with the gang, Cantona suggested that he seek help from his postman friends. But will all this really help Eric regain his life? The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival in France.
