Synopsis of Visit

On April 21, U.S. time, the New York Times website released a short film created by Jia Zhangke and five other top international directors with the "epidemic" as the background. This is the theme of the Thessaloniki Film Festival in Greece with "space" as its theme. With the global COVID-19 epidemic as the background, the short film shooting plan focuses on isolation life. This project invites many directors from around the world to create works with the same theme. Each film is about 3 minutes long and must be completed indoors. The New York Times took the lead in releasing the five films in this plan to the world, and issued a report titled "Finding the Magic of Movies in the Tired Isolation Period." The New York Times said: From a visual perspective, Jia Zhangke's short film "The Visit" is the most sophisticated of all works, even though it only took one day and a mobile phone to shoot. "The completion of this set of short films marks the victory of life," Jia Zhangke told the New York Times. "They show that no matter what difficult situation we are in, human thoughts can still breathe freely through movies. In this critical moment, We need each other’s words and beliefs, and through film we need to highlight our connection to each other.”
