Synopsis of Common
John Joe Ossia, 17, drove his older brother Patrick's car to take his cousin and two friends to a pizza shop. But John Joe didn't know that his friend was planning to teach a loudmouth a lesson. While he was waiting in the car, one of the young men, Zierlan, attacked Thomas, an innocent passerby, causing Thomas to suffer fatal stab wounds. The deceased Thomas was the eldest son of Margaret and Tommy. He had rarely interacted with his father since his parents divorced. The heartbroken Margaret was determined to give her son a good burial despite not having enough to eat. When John Joe's parents, Karin and Peter, discovered the accident, they were shocked and worried for their innocent son. While they were still discussing their explanations to the police, John Joe went directly to the police station to explain. When he clearly mentioned that the murderer was Kirland, the successful detective Hastings decided to invoke the British rioting crime and charge everyone involved in the case with murder, including John Joe. Margarita and Karin meet in court and find it difficult to sympathize with each other's experiences. During the defense, John Joe's family found that the alibi was not enough as a defense, and John Joe faced a tough choice.
