Synopsis of The Seminarian

The film tells the story of Ryan, a closeted college student who is in his final year of seminary and must complete a thesis before further studies, and the topic is "On the Sacred Gift of Love." Struggling with the conflict between desire and belief, Ryan has never been in love. He met Bradley, a handsome man, on the Internet, and the two quickly fell in love after meeting. However, subsequent experiences led Lane to question whether God's gift of love was truly sacred. Two other classmates in the class were also closeted gays, and Ryan, who had no one to talk to, opened up to them and discovered that they all shared the same pain and made the same mistakes. The tutor asked Ryan to put aside his homosexual feelings in his thesis, but this suggestion came too late. Due to the betrayal of his friend, Ryan's love for the same sex had already spread... Director Joshua Lim is eager to convey a point: Don't give up religion just because you feel that you have no place for yourself in religion; the lack of faith is as terrible as blind faith.
