Synopsis of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
The title of this film comes from the British folk "Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes" and is adapted from John le Carré's novel of the same name. During the Cold War, the two major spy organizations in the world - the Russian "Centre" and the British "Roundhouse" were fighting openly and covertly. The general manager discovered that there was a KGB lurking within the Intelligence Agency. The suspects were several core members of the intelligence agency, including George, the assistant to the general manager: tinkers, tailors, soldiers, poor people, and beggars. The boss planned a transnational espionage operation to find out what happened, but it failed miserably. Soon he was defeated in the internal power struggle and retired. At the same time, a group of intelligence officers were also purged, including George, who was retired early. George was originally a major suspect, but the intelligence director of the British Cabinet Office ruled out the suspicion and entrusted him to investigate the traitor.
