Synopsis of The Final Countdown

The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier encountered a strange storm during routine maintenance and suddenly lost contact with the US Pacific Fleet. After encountering a Japanese Type 0 reconnaissance plane and discovering that Pearl Harbor was full of pre-World War II warships, the officers and soldiers on the ship realized that the aircraft carrier they were on had passed through the time tunnel and returned to Pearl Harbor on the eve of World War II. The officers and soldiers on the ship further discovered that the Japanese aircraft carrier group was about to launch an attack on Pearl Harbor, triggering a war. They could either use their advanced fighter jets and missiles to launch an attack on the Japanese fleet first, thereby avoiding the catastrophe at Pearl Harbor and changing history; or they could stay away from Pearl Harbor. Hong Kong lets history take its course. What makes everyone even more troubled is that the senator they rescued disappeared instantly before Japan launched its attack on Pearl Harbor. An attack is imminent and they have to make a choice...
