Synopsis of Free Fall
Mark (Hanno Koffler) is about to become a riot policeman. He and his girlfriend are expecting the birth of their child, and life seems to be going smoothly. During the police academy training, Mark met his roommate Kai (Max Riemelt). The two ran, swam, and smoked pot together, and Mark felt more at ease than ever. As his love grew, he finally realized the desire for same-sex love lurking in his heart. And when Kai applied to be transferred to Mark's police force, they discovered that the relationship turned out to be two-way. The unprecedented excitement disrupted Mark's comfortable life, and he became another person in the eyes of his family and girlfriend. A vacuum is forming in Mark's world, and he begins to experience a free fall in his life... The feature film debut of German director Stephen Lacante, an emotionally rich film about two love affairs, was selected for the "German Perspective" section of the 63rd Berlin Film Festival. What price does one have to pay to be true to oneself? Should you be loyal to your family, your responsibilities, or your heart?
