Synopsis of The Love Eterne

In the late Eastern Jin Dynasty, Zhu Yingtai (played by Lotte), a young lady from a wealthy family, longed to go to Hangzhou to study, but her father refused. As a result, Yingtai could not think about food and tea, and became depressed and ill. Not long after, Yingtai came up with a clever plan, pretending to be a doctor to explain the cause of the young lady's illness, and finally her father nodded in agreement. On the way to study, Yingtai, who was disguised as a man, happened to meet the charming Liang Shanbo (played by Ling Bo). The two talked and speculated and traveled together. After being classmates for three years, Yingtai and Shanbo became good friends and had a deep love for each other. In the process of getting along day and night, Yingtai's love for Shanbo gradually emerged in her heart. Unfortunately, due to my identity, I couldn't bear to tell the truth. One day, Yingtai was forced to take a leave of absence to return home because of her father's urging, thus performing the classic drama of eighteen-year-old farewell. Despite such temptations and hints, the foolish sweetheart failed to understand his true feelings, and the separation became forever... The film is adapted from a classic Chinese folk tale and won six awards at the 2nd Golden Horse Awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress (Lotte), and Best Acting Special Award (Lingbo).
