Synopsis of Bad Words

Guy Trilby (Jason Bateman), an eccentric and inarticulate uncle, has already reached middle age, but the shadow of dropping out of school as a teenager has always haunted him. The American education community has held a spelling bee "National Spelling Bee" that is only for primary and secondary school students. All contestants are students under eighth grade. By chance, Guy discovers a huge loophole in the rules of the National Spelling Bee. He took advantage of the registered blind spot to participate in the national youth spelling bee and was shortlisted for the finals with his superhuman word memory. However, Gay's advanced age has been questioned by the outside world, accusing him of breaking the rules of the game. During the game, Guy formed a deep friendship with a talented Indian boy. However, as the competition progressed, more and more people began to hinder his participation, and Guy's true purpose of participating in the competition also emerged. This film is the screen debut written and directed by the actor Jason Bateman.
