Synopsis of Empire of Passion

Aishi (Kazuko Yoshiyuki), the wife of country coachman Gisaburo (played by Takahiro Tamura), is hardworking and kind-hearted. When Gisaburo is not at home, Toyoji (Fuji Tatsuya), a wanderer who spends all his time in the village, pays homage to her many times, but she refuses to do so. However, she could not resist the temptation of Toyotzu's young and strong body. In order to stay together forever, the two strangled Gisaburo to death on a snowstorm night and threw his body into a dry well. Out of guilt, Toyoji dumps fallen leaves into dry wells every day. Three years later, people in the village began to talk about the appearance of Gisaburo's ghost. Ash also began to be harassed by Gisaburo's ghost, and gradually became unable to bear the psychological pressure. In order to dispel the suspicion of the villagers, Toyoji killed again. When Toyoji and Aishi ventured into a dry well to transfer Gisaburo's remains, they unexpectedly encountered his ghost.
