Synopsis of Rhino Season
In the late 1970s, an earth-shaking revolution broke out in Iran. The Kurdish poet Sahel (played by Behrouz Vossoughi) was impacted during the revolution. He was accused of writing a large number of political poems that criticized the authorities, and he and his wife Mina (played by Monica Bellucci) were arrested. In prison, the couple endured cruel torture and inhuman treatment. After a long sentence of thirty years, Sahel regained his freedom, while Mina had left prison five years earlier. In order to find the whereabouts of his wife, Sahel traveled to Türkiye. The couple has been crushed by time and fate, and their suffering is far from over. The helpless search in the wilderness, the bloody memories of the past alternately emerge... This film is adapted from the diary of Iranian poet Sadegh Kamangar and won the Best Cinematography Award at the 2012 Asia Pacific Film Festival.
