Synopsis of The Purple Rose of Cairo

During the Great Depression in the United States in the 1930s, the market was in ruins. Housewife Cecilia (Mia Farrow) faces a boring waitress job during the day (she soon lost this job due to the economic collapse) and an uninteresting husband at night. As an avid movie fan, she went to the theater every day to watch a movie called "Purple Cairo". She was so familiar with it that she could even remember the lines and expressions. There was no economic depression in the movie, but the banquet and fun of the upper class. A strange thing happened that day. Tom (Jeff Daniels), the leading actor in the play, walked off the screen!
