Synopsis of Two Hundred Years of Surgery

"Two Hundred Years of Surgery" is China's first scientific documentary that gives a panoramic view of mankind's struggle against disease. It strives to record the historical changes in science and technology and show the glory of humanitarianism. The contents focus on: development of anatomy, anesthesia, disinfection and hemostasis, opening the abdomen, attacking the skull, opening the heart, transplantation and replacement, cancer, and the future of surgery. The crew spent three years traveling to the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Turkey, India and other countries, photographing more than 70 important medical museums, hospitals and medical research institutions, and interviewing more than 50 top international experts. The development history and future prospects of surgery are presented.
