Synopsis of All's Well

The film involves the emotional life of a pair of intellectuals working in the media industry and a strike at a sausage manufacturing factory in May 1972. Together with the factory manager, they were blocked in the office by workers for two days and two nights. In the film, we see and hear managers, Communist Party union representatives, "New Left" leaders, and ordinary workers share their opinions; we see the factory's operating procedures; we see Montand's work shooting advertisements, and hear his narrations My own experience and loss since 1968; seeing Fonda’s broadcasting work as the ABC representative in France, and hearing her failure and irritability; seeing a supermarket robbery by young radicals and the violent suppression by the police; to the "standard portraits" of all strata of French society; and also to see the quarrels and dilemmas in Montand and Fonda's common life. Even their love life constitutes a metonym of the times: the two met and fell in love during their participation in a strike in May 1968, and then discovered the breakdown of their personal lives during the strike in May 1972.
